Carmen has worked in financial and accounting leadership positions with George Brown College, KPMG and Teleglobe Canada. Carmen joined Sheraton Canada in 1995. As Director of Finance, Carmen managed several acquisitions and divestitures of hotel assets and managed the creation and wind up of various corporate entities. Carmen was appointed a director and officer of Starwood Canada in 1998.
In 1998 Carmen added the controllership of the Sheraton Centre Toronto hotel to her portfolio. In 1999, Carmen was appointed Regional Director of Finance with responsibility for the finance function of the nine owned and managed Canadian
Starwood hotels as well as the tax and finance function of Starwood Canada Corp.
In 2002, Carmen accepted the Six Sigma Black Belt position for the Sheraton Centre Toronto hotel. Carmen was responsible for the implementation of the Six Sigma culture as well as the completion of a number of high value projects in the hotel. In early 2003, Carmen was promoted to Regional Director of Six Sigma (Master Black Belt Canada) working with the Canadian regional team to create a Six Sigma culture throughout the region. In 2006, Carmen left Starwood to pursue other interests while maintaining aconsulting relationship with the company.
Carmen has undergraduate degrees in philosophy and business administration from the University of the Philippines and a graduate diploma in Chartered Accountancy from McGill University. She is a qualified Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant and a US Certified Public Accountant.
